Question of the week #2

The health care reform bill was passed by the democrats to prohibit a filibuster by the republican senators and has allowed the bill to be argued on the senate floor. I think universal health care will happen because it is politically incorrect to obstruct any person from good healthcare. The presidents and congresspeople that currently serve or will be elected will be faced with a challenge to allot health care fairly, regardless of any putstanding variables. This pisses me off because no illegal alien or criminal should be allowed the same rights as an upstanding and deserving citizen, that eliminates the government encouragement of righteousness and will lead to a state of disaster and crime. Policymakers need to step with caution.

Cartoon post #2

This cartoon was drawn by Brian Fairrington and posted on 11/28/2009 by Cagle cartoons. It is titled 9-11 Masterminds in Civil Court. The cartoon satirizes the situation regarding the trial of the september 11, 2001 terrorists behind the bombbings of the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. The message is that allowing these military criminals to be tried in a public hearing is absurd and irresponsible. I agree because these men were corrupt and deserve to be punished by the military brannches who have brought them to justice. It is not honorable to allow the most evil individuals to ever commit crimes against the United States to be tried in a public New York court room and allow misguided lobbyists and interest groups to even hint an influence on a judge to release a ruling of not guilty.

Herndon needs a principal that has been in the community for a while, someone that understands how the high school is run and can easily relate to the faculty and more importantly to the students. The principal needs to be amiable and understanding of problems without reacting with harsh punishments or policies that are trivial or ineffective. For instance, Mr. Martinez added a lunch bell that affected virtually no one, that was stupid. The new parking pass situation is equally stupid because now i have to park deep in the cage while underclassmen park closer. It is obviously necessary that the new principal be tough and able to control the issues that come up, but he should also be comprehensive to the circumstances that surround each problem and act accordingly. He needs to be smart and also realize that each student has different intentions behind any action that they partake in, and he needs to take that into account before administering any punishments or policies that are too harsh or consequential to those whom any such actions may affect.

Political Cartoon one

The cartoon here was created by Monte Wolverton and was published on politicalcartoons.com. The title is "Health Insurance Rate Increases" and was posted on November 22, 2009. The cartoon depicts the negative effects of the current health care system on the common citizen and the prolonged inconveniences brought forth by the senate's hesitation to pass the new health care bill. The cartoon is in favor of the bill and is questioning the reasons for the delay of its emforcement. I disagree with the intensity of the message because the health care reform bill has many questionable aspects such as it's response to questions such as abortion and illegal immigration. however, the current system is much too costly and the delay is necessary to bring about corrections to bill where needed.
